Istanbul Design Week and Yard 9

Istanbul’s energy of the youth, dynamic urban identity, culture that encourages creativity and variety regarding daily life will be the keywords to reflect Turkish design vision. Year after year. IDW 2012 again will be the showcase of Turkish and international design. This year some special events will take place in the context of  celebrating the 400th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey.

Premsela’s design, fashion and architecture exhibition Connecting Concepts will open in Istanbul’s former Hasköy yarn factory during the city’s design week. Marjan Hammersma of the Netherlands Ministry of Culture will formally open the exhibition on Tuesday 25 September at 9pm. Alongside projects by dozens of designers from the Netherlands and elsewhere, Connecting Concepts has recently added work by a Turkish jewellery designer and architectural firm. The show will remain on view through Istanbul Design Week and the beginning of the Istanbul Design Biennale, closing on Sunday 21 October. Premsela will hold an extensive programme of talks, debates and workshops during design week.

Yard 9 will visit IDW to present the special Turkish edition of the fourth Trend Book!
