The 5th EKODesign Conference Istanbul took place on 12 April 2012, discussing the ecological practices in the field of architecture. The DutchDFA programme supported a number of Dutch speakers at the conference including Yard 9’s Matthijs van Dijk and Christien Meindertsma.
EKODesign is a one full day conference, organized for the 5th time this year by Yapi-Endustri Merkezi (YEM, Building Information Center) in order to attract attention to the ecological practices in the field of architecture. EKODesign aims to do so by creating a platform and a massive awareness that will pave the way for the legal regulations and develop sensitivity towards the ecological approaches in the Turkish architecture environment.
In its 5th year YEM took EKODesign forward from focusing on sustainable architecture, construction, regulations and urban planning to a more broaden range of design related disciplines such as product, fashion and trends. Dutch Speakers at the conference for design, Matthijs van Dijk and Christien Meindertsma, were supported by the DutchDFA programme.
