NLTR 400 and Yard 9
In 2012, The Netherlands and Turkey are celebrating the 400th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries. In 1612 the Dutch ambassador Cornelis Haga presented, on behalf of the Dutch Republic, his credentials to the Ottoman Sultan Ahmed I. This was the beginning of four hundred years of Turkish-Dutch relations. In this context, this year many events and activities in cultural, economic, educational and social fields will be organized under the name NLTR400 in The Netherlands and Turkey. Besides this, there will be state visits, several ministerial visits and trade missions instead in both countries.
The celebration focuses firmly on the future, strengthening the special relations between the Netherlands and Turkey and boosting bilateral relations. Netherlands and Turkey want to involve the younger generation in the celebrations. Many events are therefore focused on the youth. Most activities take place between March and November 2012.
Yard 9 will participate in the celebrations by joining trade missions, exhibitions, workshops etc.
The activities of the 400th Anniversary celebration will focus primarily on the decision makers, the business community, opinion leaders and youth of both countries, in addition to the general public.
